Maybe one of the most famous towns of the Wild West, Tombstone is only 48km from the Mexican border. It was one of the many boom towns, after the discovery of silver mines around 1877. The appeal of fast money, the nearby border, and the remoteness from the next major city, made Tombstone a perfect place for cattle thieves, gamblers ans outlaws. This is the place where the famous gunfight of OK Corral happened in 1881. Two Earp brothers and Doc Holiday killed in this most famous gunfight of the Old West Frank and Tom McLaury and Billy Clanton.

The three killed were buried in the "Boothill" cemetery where mostly outlaws and a few others are buried. Despite the violent way of life and death in Tombstone, the inhabitants did not loose their sense of humour,, as one can read on some grave inscriptions.

This cemetery has been restored in the 1940es and is well preserved since then.
